HO CHI MINH, Sept 15 Asia Pulse - Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Mymanmar attened conference on tourism promotion themed 'Four countries One Destination' was held in Vietnam's southern Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) on Tuesday.

Vietnam the largest market for Cambodia’s tourism


Cambodian Minister of Tourism Thong Khon asserted on Wednesday that Vietnam is the largest visitor-generating market for his country’s tourism industry, and the country is seeking to attract more tourists from Vietnam.
The minister said at the launch of the Cambodian Night held at the five-star Rex Hotel on Wednesday that Cambodia welcomed 470,000 visitors from Vietnam last year, and the figure is expected to rise to 550,000 this year.
The Cambodian Night was held by the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism as part of the 7th International Travel Expo (ITE) HCMC 2011, aiming at introducing its culture and tourism to Vietnamese customers. Read more

 Cambodian Space Project UNiTE ahead of their debut album release and UK tour ImageIn August 2011, lead singer of The Cambodian Space Project Srey Thy was confirmed as a Good Will Ambassador for UN Women’s UNiTE, Ban Ki Moon’s campaign to end violence against women in Cambodia.


Srey Thy (31 years) is hugely popular in her home country of Cambodia both as a singer and because of her tireless work in promoting human rights in Cambodia, a country whose record is shameful, past and present. Since she formed The Cambodian Space Project in 2009, Srey Thy and her band have travelled the length of Cambodia, visiting and performing for some of the most disadvantaged communities in rural and urban areas entertaining orphans, school-children and sometimes entire villages.
